Our Mom has been at Vasona Creek since March of 2010. When she arrived we were not certain she would make it. The nursing staff helped her and us through an extremely emotional and challenging time. There are many of us to visit so we are there daily and see how people are taken care of by the entire staff and they all do their share to make life as comfortable as possible considering the circumstances of individuals.
I applaud all departments for their participation and contribution to making Vasona a good place to be if you can’t be home. Our family would like to Thank the entire staff including: Maintenance, Housekeeping, Laundry staff, Kitchen staff, Nursing Personnel, CNAs, Administration staff, Physical Rehab Therapy staff, Social Services, Beauty shop, Nursing staff and of course the activities coordinators who always ensure residents are engaged in activities and entertained with music, movies, bingo, cards outdoor activities, tea parties shopping trips and outings. Our Mother is taken to Church every Sunday. I hope we didn’t leave any department out. We have engaged with all of these departments and they all have worked with us for mutual solutions.
Our Mother has thrived at Vasona Creek, she interacts with others, she does more activities than she was at home after getting sick.
In my opinion, the job this entire staff does is a very demanding, challenging, often heartbreaking and can be thankless. It is not easy to care for the elderly and or disabled, we did it for 5 years until it was too difficult for us to manage ourselves.
Don’t get me wrong this was one of the most difficult decisions we ever had to make, it was like leaving your baby with someone else to take care of forever. The first year I went every night after work and on weekends even though I could see she was well taken care of….. I felt guilty.
We have been in other Nursing care facilities and feel lucky to have found Vasona Creek for our Mom.
